Operations Clean Streets Set for April 18th

Edmond’s annual Operation: Clean Streets event, sponsored by Edmond Beautiful and the City of Edmond, is scheduled for Saturday, April 18. The clean up effort is in conjunction with the statewide Trash-Off Day, which is sponsored by the Beautification Office of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

This spring clean up event is an excellent opportunity for families, church groups, civic clubs and organizations to make a difference in the appearance of our city. Event sponsors will provide coffee and donuts for volunteers as well as prizes for the most unusual trash picked up during the event.

Two hundred and sixty volunteers collected over 450 bags of roadside litter during last year’s event. Coordinators said that the Adopt-a-Street groups, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, church groups and individual volunteers are the backbone of the city’s clean up event.

Volunteers meet at 9 AM in the west end of the parking lot of the city’s Administration Building which is located at 100 E. First.

A drop-off site for used vehicle tires without rims will be open during Operation Clean Streets. The drop-off site will be located in the east side of the parking lot of the city’s AdministrationBuilding and will be open from 8 am to Noon.
