J. Carl Hancuff is this week’s winner of the Yard of the Week competition. He and his wife Mitzi are the first “Yard of the Week” winners for 2009. Their home is at 2101 Timberdale Drive in the Timberdale addition.

This well-manicured corner yard has an eye-catching corner flower bed that contains purple peonies; orange Asiatic lilies; assorted marigolds; assorted impatiens; dianthus; red, white, yellow and pink hibiscus; assorted petunias; red, white and pink begonias; wandering Jew; ageratums; black irises; assorted snapdragons; and a unique yellow with red polka dot container of red geraniums and asparagus ferns.

Their yard has beautiful large sweet gum, river birch and live oak trees with other beds containing yaupon holly, assorted ornamental grasses, unusual coreopsis, yellow yarrow, gailardia and assorted hybrid tea roses. This yard will catch your eye for the effective use of colorful and unusual flowers.

“Yard of the Week” is co-sponsored by Edmond Beautiful, The Edmond Sun, the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce and The Home Depot. The winner receives a six-month subscription to The Edmond Sun and a $50 store credit from The Home Depot.
