EDMOND — The final “Yard of the Week” award for the 2009 season goes to the Yancey family — Mike and Cheryl, pictured above with daughter Fallyn— 3509 Sawgrass Road in the Fairfax Addition.
Large, showy beds of red begonias, orange Stella d’Oro daylilies, purple petunias, assorted coleus, red and white periwinkles and orange New Guinea impatiens catch your eye as you drive down their street.
Their well-manicured beds also contain red crape myrtles, red knock-out roses, blue hearts, moneywort, fountain grass, assorted mums and several ornamental pots of colorful annuals for bright color. This yard makes a showplace with its elegant autumn blaze red maples, Austrian pines, lacebark elms, blue atlas cedars and globe spruce trees that accent this large corner lot.
“Yard of the Week” is co-sponsored by Edmond Beautiful Inc., The Edmond Sun, Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce and The Home Depot. The winner receives a six-month subscription to The Sun and a $50 store credit from The Home Depot.
Our congratulations to all of the “Yard of the Week” winners for 2009, and our thanks to all that took the time out of their busy schedules to call and nominate yards for consideration of this award. |
