EDMOND BEAUTIFUL ANNOUNCES 2009 KEEP IT CLEAN, KEEP IT GREEN WINNER
 
EDMOND, Okla. – Edmond Beautiful recently announced the Edmond Recycling Center is the winner of the 2009 Keep it Clean, Keep it Green business award. The award recognizes an Edmond business that sets and implements a specific goal to beautify, reduce, reuse, recycle or divert waste within the community, business or as an organization.
 
The Edmond Recycling Center opened a new location Jan. 13, offering expanded hours of operation and the ability to take in approximately 36,325 total gallons of plastics, glass, paper, aluminum and cardboard. Through Edmond’s recycling program, 100 percent of recycled materials are processed and shipped to recycling markets.
 
The volunteer recycling staff and board members for Edmond Beautiful, Edmond Transfer Station, Edmond Public Works, Waste Management, Covell 35 Development and City Councilman David Miller all played vital roles in the Edmond Recycling Center relocation and expansion.
 
The Keep it Clean, Keep it Green business award winner receives recognition of the accomplishment with a plaque on display in the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce building as well as a public announcement. All applicants that met the intent of the award will receive a Certificate of Recognition for their efforts.
 
Edmond Beautiful works to establish, enhance and empower Edmond, Oklahoma toward a better environment for all generations. The organization provides the community with a way to improve the environment by recycling, remodeling old businesses and regulating laws ensuring the environment of the community, along with many other projects educating the citizens of Edmond on the environment.
