Edmond Recycling Center Information
Location: 20 W 3rd Street, just off Broadway
Hours: Saturdays ONLY 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

*During the month of August, the Edmond Recycling Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday.
Cardboard:
- Corrugated
- Flat (cereal, prepared meal boxes ; pop can & beer can boxes)
- Cardboard egg cartons
*Cardboard should be completely flattened to conserve space in the bin.
Plastic:
- Food, beverage and household non-hazardous product containers, showing the recycling triangle # 1-7
*As much as possible, containers should be clean.
Aluminum:
- Pop and beer cans
- Clean pie and baking pans and clean foil
- Cat food cans
*Cans should be rinsed.
Steel:
- Beverage cans
- Coffee cans
- Vegetable cans
- Pet food cans
- Prepared food cans
*Cans should be rinsed.
Paper:
- Computer paper
- Mail
- Newspaper and newspaper supplements
- Packing paper
- Phone books
- Magazines
- Catalogs
- Brown bags
*Shredded paper can be recycled in a plastic bag.
Glass:
- Clear
- Green
- Brown
- other colors, recycle with brown
*No window glass, mirrors, or tempered glass.
Non-Recyclable Materials
- Plastic bags*
- Styrofoam
- Food
- Tissue paper
- Plastic wrap
- Paint (H)
- Batteries (H)
- Tires (H)
- Used engine oil (H)
*Plastic grocery bags can be returned to WalMart. There is a green and white cardboard box in the front of every store.
(H) Items are considered Hazardous Waste and can only be recycled on designated Hazardous Waste Days held at Mitch Park. These are announced once or twice a year. Watch your newspaper and your utility bill insert.
The Edmond Recycling Center is staffed entirely by volunteers. It is an excellent venue for high school students to earn service points for NHS, Environmental Club, etc. If you would like to help out, please contact Kate Corbett by email at katethelibrarian@yahoo.com or call 282-3377.
