About Us

Edmond Beautiful works to establish, enhance and empower Edmond, Oklahoma toward a better environment for all generations. Edmond Beautiful is much like the other beautification organizations around the state such as Keep Oklahoma Beautiful which provides the community with a way to improve the environment by recycling, remodeling old businesses and regulating laws ensuring the environment of the community, along with many other projects educating the citizens of Edmond on the environment.

History:

  • Keep Edmond Beautiful was founded and incorporated in 1980.
  • Keep Edmond Beautiful (KEB) originated as a committee in the Quality of Life Council within the Edmond Chamber of Commerce.
  • Community cleanup was taken over by KEB from the Chamber of Commerce.
  • In 1981, the "Yard of the Week" program was created in cooperation with the Edmond Sun.
  • The 1985 "Trash Bash" was held to celebrate the annual street cleanup.
  • KEB recommended a new sign ordinance for Edmond.
  • KEB Sponsored a "Litter Bugs Me" drawing contest in local elementary schools in which the winners received savings bonds.
  • KEB offers free flower seeds at UCO's Earth Day Fair.
  • "Award of Excellence" given to local businesses for their beautification efforts.
  • KEB Board of Directors approved name change from Keep Edmond Beautiful to Edmond Beautiful in 2008.
  • The Edmond Beautiful Board of Directors meets the second Wednesday of every month at 8 a.m. at the Edmond Chamber of Commerce building at 825 E. Second Street.
  • Golden Gateway Award presented to an Edmond neighborhood each year for the improvement of neighborhood entrances.
